Pilot selection

Our selection process for pilot locations were very similar to others. Following highlights the general steps taken.

  1. Solicited interest from all participating organizations and work with them on basic rationale for the interest and alignment to implementation timeline
  2. Determined the need of the pilot based on the “coverage” (mostly type of services to equate to EMR templates) and "volume" (# of clinics and visit volume)
  3. Based on above steps, we’ve originally selected three participating organizations (1 being a buffer)
  4. We dug deeper with each organization in choosing the actual pilot clinic/s and ended with 4 initial pilot clinic locations (1 being a buffer)

The criteria used for choosing both the organization and specific locations were;

  1. Willingness & commitment of resources
  2. Capabilities of clinic and support staff
  3. Presence of strong clinician/s
  4. Readiness of the clinic & technology
  5. Details of visit types and patterns
  6. Geography & accessibility
