Our selection process for pilot locations were very similar to others. Following highlights the general steps taken.
- Solicited interest from all participating organizations and work with them on basic rationale for the interest and alignment to implementation timeline
- Determined the need of the pilot based on the “coverage” (mostly type of services to equate to EMR templates) and "volume" (# of clinics and visit volume)
- Based on above steps, we’ve originally selected three participating organizations (1 being a buffer)
- We dug deeper with each organization in choosing the actual pilot clinic/s and ended with 4 initial pilot clinic locations (1 being a buffer)
The criteria used for choosing both the organization and specific locations were;
- Willingness & commitment of resources
- Capabilities of clinic and support staff
- Presence of strong clinician/s
- Readiness of the clinic & technology
- Details of visit types and patterns
- Geography & accessibility
