ODCHC has currently implemented the Epic EHR system at 4 of its 6 medical sites. One site is currently "going live," with one site remaining to implement. As clinics, each with its own distinct culture and variety of services, have implemented Epic, they have identified both issues, needs, and wants concerning system operatability. In response, ODCHC has assembled Site Specialist teams to identify and prioritize the issues and troubleshoot possible solutions. These teams allow clinic staff to be a part of system development, fostering staff buy-in and involvement.
Through the process of implementation, OCHIN, the network provider has responded to ODCHC's issues. For instance, several billing issues were identified, and OCHIN sent a team of OCHIN trainers for a week to work with the Billing department staff to remedy the issue. In addition, both clinic teams and administrative teams work with OCHIN to remedy any issues. Although not all issues have been resolved, OCHIN has been responsive to ODCHC's needs. OCHIN also schedules regular trainings and meetings to monitor progress and address concerns. Interestingly, by working with the OCHIN network to implement EHR, the standardization of the system has encouraged standardization of policies, procedures, and protocols across ODCHC clinic sites, allowing for greater efficiencies and the possibility of improved data collection.
There is still much to do in creating and refining the use of the EHR within our system, but we remain hopeful and also excited about the end result(s).

Very interesting observation about standardizing processes, policies and procedures across all clinic sites as a result of EHR implementation. I've worked with helath centers who are often shocked at the level of variation across their sites, once you shine a spotlight on them (which is the effect that EHR can have). Hopefully, it's also resulted in discovery of best practices and gems of wisdom that can be spread accross sites as well.
Thanks for the update.
